I found this craigslist ad and immediately contacted the seller. Perfect size, desired model, fair price. I put my game face on and headed to the towing company where she was being held. There she was.. looking more horrible than in the photos. It didn't matter though, as long as things could be repaired I knew she was the one. After phone calls with an airstream repair man, countless questions & inspections, I realized that this was the moment I've been waiting for. The next thing I knew, I'm exchanging my money for papers & the ownership of an airstream. I screamed my lungs out on the way home.
Blossom has finally found a HOME.
She's a 1960 Safari Airstream with a past I am extremely curious about (more on this later). At the moment, she's not the best looking home (dents, unwanted paint, busted windows, more dents, and trash piled roof-high inside), but under all the negligence and abuse, she WILL be more beautiful than ever.
Looking at my timeline on the hopeful progress of Blossom its been amazing to see it all slowly happening. Although it was already a goal to purchase an airstream by Nov/Dec, it's surreal that I officially have one. While bonding with Bill (the seller), he kept asking me (with a concerning look) if I'm positive that I want to buy it.. ten times to be exact. However, after I explained to him what I wanted to transform this broken down airstream into, that look of concern quickly turned to an inquisitive one. He told me that he's rooting for me and he even gave me a place to keep my airstream for however long I needed. What an awesome guy, right?
So without further ado, here are some more (before) shots of Blossom!
I only ask you to keep an open mind and have faith that she will regain consciousness :)
Below are photos of the evidence left behind of Blossom's past. Bill and I concluded that she was once an adult shop, but who knows. The first thing I'm looking forward to doing is digging through the trash inside and maybe finding more clues to her past. Actually, I don't know if I really want to know.
So, what do you think? I have ALOT of work to do, but with time & patience I know I will get Blossom to shine. A huge thank you to all the support I've gotten so far. I can't wait to begin & share the transformation of Blossom! Wish me luck!
Keep Blooming,
J.
