Recap: A Current Affair

On Saturday, I attended A Current Affair in downtown LA. Overall, the event was full of great vintage & friendly folks. The building it was held in (Cooper Design Space) was beautiful and the event was held on the 11th floor! Looking out of all the floor length windows, it was a reminder of how lucky I am to be living in such an amazing city.
One of my favorite vintage bloggers, Rodelle, and her space for adorevintage!

So, back to the event. Let's start with the cons. About 90% of all the merchandise was insanely expensive and, in my opinion, overpriced. I always thought the idea of vintage clothing is to be able to get a GREAT deal and to stray away from the exclusivity of high-end fashion. Anyways, with most of the vendors at this event selling summer dresses for over $100 is, to me, insane! Especially if there really is nothing significantly different to what I can find myself at a flea market. I definitely saw more people shopping with their eyes than with their wallets.

Although I left the event empty handed, there were definitely more pros than cons. First, the concept of a community for vintage lovers is what inspired me. Most of the people seemed to know one another from previous occasions and you could feel the sincerity among the shoppers and vendors. I felt welcomed and appreciated for just being there. Second, the merchandise! Even though it was too expensive, I still admired all the treasures each vendor had curated from all over. It was truly a magical place for all vintage lovers.
